No Name Club

Club No Name is a nice underground club situated near to the city square, also known in polish as the Rynek, the reason I call it an underground club is because it literally is situated underground. As you walk through the club doors you are greeted by a long stairway leading you into the gulleys below. The club has a warm climate to it being constructed out of dark red and brown brick given it a real industrial feel, however not too industrial as the relaxed style of decoration brings a slight sense of tranquility to the place. As you look up you are greeted by amazing deep brick ceilings, giving the club a real old school rugged vibe to it. The club boasts two dance floors where you can lose yourself to hip-hop, RnB, Reggae, Latino hits, pop, Rock and sometimes even Disco Polo (Poland’s version of pop music, the thing that shames most polish people.) The club has a nice vibe to it and the staff is friendly enough, I honestly can’t say a bad thing about them, even when No Name hosts it famous “Erasmus Parties” (every Wednesday) and the club is crowded with masses of foreign students with a hunger for alcohol, the barmen and women are able to keep their cool, be tolerant and even share a laugh with a rowdy foreign guest or two. I highly recommend you pay a visit to this well known party starter of a club in Wroclaw, you really will not be sorry you did, and will probably find yourself coming back time and time again, I know I do.

Club Alibi

This club, like club Grawitacja, is also situated at the foot of Wroclaws international student homes. However it is not as popular as Grawitacja for meeting new and interesting people from different corners of the earth, in fact I don’t believe it is at all popular in that sense. The people you are most likely to meet in Alibi are polish people, although there is always the exception, as I for one as well as a few of my friends tend to move to club Alibi when it gets a bit too crowded in Grawitacja.
The club its self is quite average and basic when we talk about design, atmosphere and climate. It is a fairly large club which is why at least 3 times a month they host concerts with musicians from Poland as well as from around the rest of the world. The main dance floor is set near to the entrance and is designed as a large square which has been sunk about 1.5 meters into the ground with the rest of the club looking down on you as you dance yourself into a frenzy. Surrounding the main dance floor is a vast amount of tables and benches where one may sit and socialize with friends while sipping a nice cold beer.  Club Alibi also has a second hall which can be found when walking through a door (like the door in your bedroom, weird to have such a small entrance into another hall but ok) which is situated in the corner of the club, if you just keep walking straight from the cloak room past the bar on your right and straight to the end, you will find a door on your right, that leads to the second hall. I must be honest I only found that part of the club after my third visit as I always assumed it was only for staff. In the first hall you will find about 3 big flat screen TV’s which are used to watch sports matches during the week when Alibi is not being used as a club, at those time it’s treated more like a bar, where you can sit down with your mates and enjoy the match with a refreshing beer.  As for the staff all I can say is, they’re nice, nothing special but definitely not the worst. Let me put it this way, if they’re having a bad day, you’ll know about it. If I had to sum up the club in a few words while relating to its design and atmosphere, I would say that at heart it is a concert venue which secondarily functions as a club and bar when not hosting any shows. However all the same I still feel it is a venue that is worth visiting and checking out.

Photobucket Club Grawitacja

Club Grawitacja is a club situated in the center of the student residence in Wroclaw, to be precise it is actually situated at the foot of the Wroclaw international student homes, this making it an ideal place to meet people from all over the world and make some new friends. The club has a warm atmosphere and you are bound to get into a friendly conversation with someone, be it at the bar over a drink or two, or whether it be sat at one of the tables or on the couches situated in the clubs second hall. As for the club its self, it is a club with a theme set back in the old days of damsels and gentlemen, the decor has a slight barok feel to it with chandeliers hanging from the ceilings, busy wallpaper dazzling your eyes and giving the club a prestige sort of feel and warm wooden furniture that gives you a sense of comfort and belonging. The bar is set in the middle of the club, thus making it possible to serve both halls at the same time. Surrounding the bar you will not find your everyday barstools, that's just so normal and boring, instead you will find wooden swings all around the bar which constantly call out to you to jump on, order a drink and have a few swings back and forth while admiring the party as it comes to life around you. As awesome as this club is, the same has to be said for the staff, barmen and women alike as well as employees working the floor are friendly, tolerant and inviting. Walking up to the bar and ordering a drink is enjoyable  when greeted and served by such staff. Believe it or not but the door man too are quite tolerant and polite when dealing with customers (well, as polite and tolerant as a polish door man can be.) , and I am able to comment on their behaviour as I was unfortunately involved in a situation where the door man saw it appropriate to intervene, and the way in which they handled the situation was quite impressive compared to what I have seen and experienced in many other polish clubs. However I would not advise that you get on their bad side or abuse their tolerance as I am pretty sure that in such a case the situation could get quite ugly.
